Policy Hearing: Read to Succeed: Early Childhood Education and its Effects on Childhood Literacy

November 17, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Read to Succeed: Early Childhood Education and its Effects on Childhood Literacy

Join Senator Marty Flynn (D-Lackawanna/Luzerne) and Chairwoman of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee Senator Katie Muth (D-Berks/Chester/Montgomery) on Thursday, November 17th at 10:00AM at the Fricchione Early Learning Center at Marywood University for an informational hearing on the importance of access to early childhood education and its impacts on childhood literacy outcomes.

Every child deserves the opportunity to attend a quality early education program. Early childhood education is more than preparation for elementary school; it also fosters development of a child’s social and emotional foundations and can jumpstart reading success.

To bring awareness to these topics, we are assembling a group of local educators in addition to leaders from statewide advocacy organizations to discuss the importance of early childhood education, its role in underfunded school districts, how advocates are working to address the lack of equity in access to these programs, and how access effects literacy success.

This hearing will be held at the Fricchione Early Learning Center at Marywood University, 1507 University Ave, Dunmore, PA 18509.
