Harrisburg, PA — Senator Marty Flynn, Minority Chairmen of the Senate Transportation Committee, today highlighted $4,636,936 in multimodal transportation funding announced by the Shapiro Administration for projects located within Pennsylvania’s 22nd Senatorial District.

The funding was awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF), administered by PennDOT. Of the total funding awarded within the district, $4,395,860 will support two infrastructure projects in Lackawanna County, while $241,076 will fund pedestrian and safety improvements in Luzerne County.

Governor Josh Shapiro announced more than $47 million in awards statewide for 54 projects across 34 counties, supporting transportation improvements that enhance safety, strengthen local economies, and improve connectivity.

Projects Awarded in Senator Flynn’s District

Lackawanna County

  • City of Scranton: $1,395,860 to replace the Ash Street Bridge
  • Lackawanna County (Clifton Township): $3,000,000 to replace the bridge on Plank Road

Luzerne County

  • Avoca Borough: $241,076 for sidewalk, crosswalk, and signage improvements on McAlpine Street

The Multimodal Transportation Fund supports locally owned transportation projects across Pennsylvania, including roads, bridges, pedestrian infrastructure, and multimodal connections that enhance mobility and economic development.

Under the Shapiro Administration, the Commonwealth has invested more than $143 million through the Multimodal Transportation Fund and continues to make historic investments in transportation infrastructure as part of the 2025–26 state budget.

PennDOT will begin accepting applications for the next round of Multimodal Transportation Fund grants on January 5, 2026.
